“Inclusive Art” Workshop in Trakai

During the “Moving Without Barriers” (MWB) project mobility on May 26, 2026 in Trakai, Lithuania, participants paused their athletic schedules to engage in a collaborative “Inclusive Art” workshop. The session provided athletes with intellectual disabilities, coaches, and volunteers an opportunity to connect off the water.
Trading paddling gear for canvases and brushes, the international groups worked together on a shared creative activity. The workshop was designed to explore themes of teamwork, equality, and connection. With participants representing different native languages and cognitive profiles, painting offered a practical medium for non-verbal self-expression.
Collaborating on three large canvases, the groups demonstrated that creativity, much like sport, can function as a shared language to help bridge cultural and communication differences. The relaxed setting allowed the young athletes to interact comfortably and build camaraderie. The completed artworks were later hung on the Conference Room wall, serving as a visual record of the group’s cooperation.
